Starting
in elementary school, and all the way through high school, drawing pictures
that made people laugh was the one thing that I could do with any consistency.
The rest of my studies were average, but I loved to draw and to try
to be funny. I often thought that stand-up comedy would be fun (it actually
is mostly nerve-wracking) and that I could come up with great advertising
campaigns.
When my
drawing of Puss-n-Boots was used on the cover of a high school play
program I was hooked.
Since then
my career has been a steady trickle into the bucket of legitimacy as
a cartoonist. Over the years I have been syndicated, had my cartoons
on the covers of internationally released CDs, and been in papers
and magazines from coast to coast, including Funny Times
and the Sierra Club.
I live
in Asheville, North Carolina, a beautiful little city in the Blue Ridge
mountains about 200 miles north of Atlanta. I've been here 30 years
and with the advent of the Internet and home PCs I probably will be
able to stay here forever. Or until I can't afford to. Asheville has
been discovered by the beautiful people and their developers, so we'll
see how long the good times roll.
Oh yeah,
my other life.....
I am a musician as well. A drummer,to be exact. I've been playing music
since high school and sometimes consider it my primary reason for being
on the planet. I've been playing percussion (congas and other hand percussion)
mostly but in the last 5 years or so I've been playing kit. At the present
I am a member of 2 bands (see Music)
and I play and record in any number of free-lance situations.
That's
pretty much it. Please come back and visit the site often. I will try
to have new cartoons on a regular basis, and if you are in the area
you can check my music schedule and try to catch one of my gigs.
And of
course, if you want to hire me as either a cartoonist or a drummer,
PLEASE contact me.
Let's talk.
